Vamo vs Strava

Strava is the social layer most athletes already upload to, and the analytics behind a subscription are deep. It is not a coach.

Its own running plans have gone to Runna, a separate subscription, and its cycling plans are fixed four-week blocks sent by email. Vamo builds the plan from your 5K time or your FTP, adjusts it from your check-ins, plans your food, and uploads the session to Strava when you are done.

The difference

What Vamo does that Strava does not

Vamo writes the session, Strava keeps the record

Connect Strava in Vamo and your runs and rides upload when you finish them. Vamo does the planning that was never Strava's job. Strava keeps the feed you already have.

One plan for the whole week

Strava's coaching is split: Runna for running, fixed email plans for cycling, a log for strength. Vamo writes one week with your lifts, your runs and your rides in it, and rebuilds it from your check-in.

No second subscription

Adaptive running coaching through Strava means Runna, at £15.99 a month on its own or £119.99 a year in the bundle. Vamo is £7.99 a month and covers running, cycling, swimming, strength and nutrition.

Questions

Vamo or Strava?

Does Vamo work with Strava?

Yes. Connect your Strava account in Vamo and completed runs and rides are uploaded to Strava. Your Strava feed stays exactly as it is.

Does Strava have training plans?

For cycling, yes: ten fixed four-week plans that arrive by email, included with a subscription. For running, Strava now points you to Runna, which is a separate app and subscription, or a £119.99-a-year bundle.

Is Vamo cheaper than Strava?

Month to month, yes: £7.99 against £8.99. Paid yearly, Strava is £54.99, which is cheaper than Vamo's £95.88. If you want adaptive running plans through Strava, add Runna: the yearly bundle is £119.99.

Can Vamo replace Strava?

Not for the social side. Vamo has no segments, clubs or leaderboards, and it is not trying to. Use Vamo for the plan and Strava for the record.
